About the Author
Dina Lewis is the Head of the Centre for Lifelong Learning at the University of Hull. Her research interest is in work-based learning, based upon her extensive experience of working with public, private, community and voluntary organisations using learning technologies to support work-based learning and improved performance at work. She has extensive experience of working with senior managers within organisations and across regions to support the strategic implementation of e-learning.

Barbara Allan is a Senior Lecturer in Student and Management Learning in the Business School and Deputy Director of the Centre for Management and Organisational Learning at the University of Hull. Her previous experience includes managing academic and workplace libraries, and working as an independent researcher, trainer and author. Her research interests include independent learning to online communities of practice.

I'll try to be as objective as I can.
Depending on the INTENDED audience this book may receive different grades.
If it is intended to be a text for 1 year college student, then it may deserve more stars. Otherwise, it is honestly sort of weak.

The text is more about software development in general, than about SECURE software development. Of course, those two are greatly interconnected, but security in itself is large enough subject to devote large book to it.
This text is rather sort, and covers all you can imagine. And precisely because it covers too much, it covers it on very basic level.

Furthermore, the questions at the end of chapters are not always very well formulated.

All-in-all, for beginning courses it is ok. For everything else, it is more like hindrance than help. Sorry.

A PERFECT Reference Guide for Programmers

Being a software engineer AND a web designer for my company, it's easy to overlook a project component here and there. Moreover, having such a wide range of programming responsibilities typically requires me to bounce around from ASP, to SQL, to JavaScript, to Java, to ActionScript, etc. Needless to say, there are days when I'm buried in syntax issues and all I want is to get things working the way they should. After digesting this book, I find myself "less at war" and "more on task". Grembi covers every aspect of software development, from receiving the initial specs on a project to giving life to the project. This book flows very well and is EXTREMELY easy to absorb (the code snippets help out a TON). The title should be "COMPLETE Software Construction", as it covers much more than security measures. I highly recommend this book to anyone that needs an "all-in-one" reference to programming, to anyone that wants to greatly decrease the time it takes to develop applications, or to anyone that wants to punch their monitor less.

About the Author
TÜLAY ADALI, PhD, is Professor of Electrical Engineering and Director of the Machine Learning for Signal Processing Laboratory at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Her research interests are in statistical and adaptive signal processing, with emphasis on nonlinear and complex-valued signal processing, and applications in biomedical data analysis and communications.

Simon Haykin, PhD, is Distinguished University Professor and Director of the Cognitive Systems Laboratory in the Faculty of Engineering at McMaster University. A world-renowned authority on adaptive and learning systems, Dr. Haykin has pioneered signal-processing techniques and systems for radar and communication applications, culminating in the study of cognitive dynamic systems, which has become his research passion.

Many ideas inside this book

About 1/3 of this book is theory. Then it get into the ideas. Ideas are shown in different languages, even Asian languages. The clothespin matching game was a hit. If you make more than one, buy a bunch of colored markers and make each theme, like winter clothing, tener expressions, etc a different color for easy cleanup of the clothespins. The next game I will make is the yarn board game. While this book is billed for K-8th, there are ideas even adults would enjoy.

I had already bought the MichKa Art Play Funky Animals painting and drawing book and was delighted with the results that both my young son and I created. So, when this came out, I bought two. The price is right. One for me and one for my sister. Having not owned a colouring book since I was a kid I was amazed at how many are on the market! What stood out for this one was the fact that they are obviously hand drawn images and not done on the computer. Also, the space for colouring and doodling is not near as tiny as so many of the other books. I really did feel like I captured my youth and freedom when colouring in this book. It was really great. I used felt pens and my sister used pencil crayons and both were so wonderful - it really was like being a kid and having no stress! Thanks again ladies! I look forward to your next project! CK
